Description	Â Â Â At Synthetic Genomics, Inc., we are dedicated to developing and commercializing genomic-driven solutions to address global challenges.Â We are currently seeking motivated Research Associates and Senior Research Associates to join our dynamic and collaborative team in La Jolla, CA.Â Positions will be temporary with option for permanent employment based on personal performance and project success. Successful candidates for the position will work under the direction of R&D scientists on the Synthetic Systems & DNA Technologies team, and will support innovative experimental research aiming to advance the development and commercialization of novel organisms as platforms for biotechnology applications.
Requirements	Required skills â–ªProficient in general molecular biology techniques including DNA construct design, PCR, molecular cloning, plasmid purification, and interpretation of DNA sequencing results. â–ªA strong theoretical understanding of molecular/cell biology and genetic engineering principles. â–ªSkills in propagating common laboratory microorganisms, with particular emphasis on aseptic technique and clonal propagation. â–ªAbility to read, understand, and execute experiments from scientific literature. â–ªGenerates detailed and complete notebooks and presents data-supported conclusions in written and oral reports. â–ªExcellent written and oral communication and skills. â–ªMust be able to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of a dynamic, cross-disciplinary team, and to adapt to changing project demands. â–ªAbility to multitask. â–ªConsistently demonstrates initiative and follow-through in implementing projects and tasks. â–ªMotivated learner, capable of quickly getting up to speed on new techniques, methods, or biological systems. â–ªPassionate and excited about scientific advancement with strong commitment to excellence. â–ªWorks in accordance with health and safety guidelines. Required Experience â–ªRequires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Genetics, or related discipline, and at least six months of research experience in a relevant laboratory setting. â–ªRequires knowledge of, and direct experience with, common molecular biology methodologies. â–ªExperience functioning as part of a team, requiring excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Desired Experience â–ªExperience with, and understanding of microbial protein secretory mechanisms. â–ªExperience with DNA sequence analysis/design software tools such as CLC Workbench or vector-NTI. â–ªTrack record in genetic engineering of microorganisms. â–ªExposure to the field of Synthetic Biology. â–ªExperience publishing and presenting scientific findings.
