We are seeking an Electrical Project Engineer with an emphasis in IoT (Internet of Things) and systems development experience to support the progress of a variety of sensor system projects. The Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for utilizing key development knowledge to contribute to the design and growth of PME’s existing and forecasted water quality sensor platforms. Water quality sensors are important to a variety of industries such as environmental monitoring, research analysis, water management, and aquaculture.

This position will excel with prior experience and understanding of sensor and system design, data analysis, sensor connectivity, and IoT knowledge. We are looking for a motivated individual who has a passion for developing new technologies, data analytics, sensor design and IoT applications.

*Primary responsibilities
Oversee and manage engineering projects and developments.

Coordinate product testing both in-house and with outside testers. Capture necessary modifications and implement new sensor design and developments.

Collaborate in scientific research and product development towards completion.

Locate new vendors to support various activities of the R&D projects.

Investigate sensor failures and communicate & execute recommended actions.

Use engineering software to perform engineering tasks.

Research and evaluate various methods for sensor connectivity and communication.

Interface with third party software developers to modify UX.

Projects include Bluetooth, sensor communication, LoRa (or similar IoT communications), underwater connectors, sensor integration.

Proven experience with a broad range of electronic test equipment including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc. Required.

Proven experience assisting with the design of equipment and with incorporating the design into a multi-functional system designed by several engineers.

Effective written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate with technical and scientific personnel.

Demonstrate ability to develop an electronic design using Altium, Orcad or a similar PCB CAD program. Starting with component identification to schematic capture, parts library and transition that to a printed circuit board
Basic qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or technical field with experience working on water quality sensors.

3+ years experience working with sensor development, IoT platforms, or communication systems.

Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, SolidWorks. JAVA a plus.

Experience with test equipment, controllers, sensor design, communication systems, data processing.

Design and fabrication experience

Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
