Scripps Corporate Alliance connects companies to world class scientific resources and expertise

Scripps Corporate Alliance (SCA) is a community of member companies aligned with the Scripps mission to seek, teach, and communicate scientific understanding of the oceans, atmosphere, Earth, and other planets for the benefit of society and the environment. SCA staff are liaisons for member companies to Scripps students, scientists, and unique research facilities, promoting synergies.

Why join Scripps Corporate Alliance?

• Facilitated access to scientists and technical staff

Members have opportunities to meet and build relationships with the scientists and staff at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, promoting R&D collaboration and licensing. Members have opportunities to present on-campus, attend Scripps and UC San Diego events, meet 1-1 with scientists, tour selected facilities including an annual tour of Ellen Browning Scripps Pier, and connect with appropriate UC San Diego staff to execute on potential follow-on agreements.

• Connections to talent

Members receive invitations to participate in Scripps’ pipeline to industry’ programs and facilitated connections to valuable future hires. Members have access to a protected portal for direct talent recruitment of students and postdocs, can post job opportunities, submit concepts for student consideration as capstone projects, and have support in hosting recruitment programs on campus.

• Visibility

Scripps Institution of Oceanography is an active community of over 2,200 scientists, staff, students, and volunteers including active outreach and external education initiatives through Birch Aquarium at Scripps. Members have facilitated access to these programs and events, which convene leading global research and academic institutions, government, policy, and industry with opportunities to participate and sponsor to more fully engage this unique group. SCA staff serve as liaisons to assist companies in communications around their valuable membership and collaboration with Scripps. Members receive a quarterly e-newsletter and annual report on Scripps research and education initiatives, and member logos are displayed on SCA media on-campus and online.

• Strategic coordination

Members receive assistance in aligning their business goals for the year with the unique assets and programs at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and UC San Diego, maximizing opportunities for fruitful collaboration. This includes staff support in executing members’ select priorities on-campus, such as facilitated visits with opportunities to present, meet with faculty, tour facilities, and attend events.

Membership dues are an annual tax deductible gift. Full SCA members receive all above benefits and logistical and administrative support on-campus and at select conferences off-site in support of research collaborations, licensing, talent recruitment, and select member-specific priorities. Membership is tiered based on desired engagement and annual revenue.  Associates level members receive a select subset of benefits focused on talent recruitment and visibility only.
